Agency is a people-first environmental justice firm, building agency within communities hurt first and worst by the climate crisis. The culmination of decades of grassroots, environmental justice work, Agency was founded by a quadruple-threat of no-nonsense women—women whose lived experiences mirror those we serve. With a zero-tolerance policy for mediocre strategy or sub-par results, we set a precedent to never settle—building an ambitious, yet demonstrated track record of sweeping wins.

Over the course of their careers, our founders aligned power brokers at every corner of environmental justice, weaving an intricate web of transformative change. Within policy, they played a vital role in the passage of landmark legislation, including (among others) the Environmental Justice Bill, the Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act (CLCPA), and the Inflation Reduction Act—the largest climate investment ever made by the federal government. Collectively, the founders have funneled hundreds of millions of climate and infrastructure dollars into frontline communities. And within each community, they met face-to-face with members, diving headfirst into the nuts and bolts of each project. Their rap sheet attracted the attention of President Biden, who appointed two founders to the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council (WHEJAC).
